From Tuesday till Thursday (March 8-10, 2011) we have been back at the DZ of Skydive Spain. Marcus Laser was busy with Load Organizing in Formation Skydiving for a group of German and Danish jumpers who came for their 1-2 weeks trips to sunny Andalucia.  Everybody had a good time with lots of 4-way and bigger formation skydives while enjoying the good weather after a stormy first day. We celebrated some round numbers:

– Sandra Philipp (jump 100)
– Frank Adams (jump 100)

We have returnd from Dubai but we are still amazed by the greatness of the city. It was our first visit to Skydive Dubai and its sister DZ Skydive Dubai Desert Campus and we were greeted with a warm, friendly and great hospitality. The AFF Instructor course was easy going as all four candidates are experienced tunnel instructors and really good flyers.

With the help of USPA I/E Raul Bocanegra for the evaluations and with Steve and Jason’s help on the videos, we could finish the whole course in 6 days and pass our congratulations to the participants:

You have well deserved your AFF Instructor Rating! Have fun with it and always stay safe! We thank you for the participation and we thank the whole team of SD and SD2 for the great organisation of this course. We had an awesome time and we shall return soon!

Our stay at Skydive Spain, Seville has come to an end and we can leave with announcing another great celebration: congratulation to Dennis Birnbaum (Germany) who managed to perform excellent on his AFF-I evaluations and who is now a newly rated USPA AFF Instructor! Big applause to you for a job well done! It was great training with you and we wish you the best of luck with your upcoming student training and real student work!

During our stay at sunny Skydive Spain during Feb 7-9th, we were pleased to meet Chris Gilmore from UK (Wales) who travelled to Spain in order to go for some AFF-I Coaching. Chris booked the AFF Pre-Course with us and learned “a whole bunch” during his 3-days training, even though Chris already has 6000 jumps, a Rigger certificate etc. Thanks, Chris for your visit and your positive feedback! It was a pleasure training you and hope to see you again soon!

We are pleased to welcome Julian Barthel as new team member to our Instructors Academy. Julian is passionate skydiver with more than 200 jumps, USPA Coach, speaks 3 languages and will colaborate in the admin and course department throughout the spring and summer season. We are happy to have him aboard and wish him best of luck with this new position!

We had a great time at Skydive Spain during the weekend February 04-06, 2011 as we found perfect weather conditions and very motivated candidates. We completed successfully the USPA Coach Rating Course and congratulate the four candidates for their gained Coach rating:

– Francisco Gaitan (Spain)
– Oliver Lopez (Spain)

Big applause to you all and good luck with your upcoming work as Coaches. We also express our thanks to Jonno Horne and Pablo Rua for assisting us on th evaluations as well as the entire staff of Skydive Spain for their hospitality!

Once more, the USPA invited all Instructors Examiners to come and join the AFF Standardization Meeting during Jan 18-19, 2011 at Sterling (VA), Washington DC.

The event was a great opportunity to discuss AFF student training issues and standards as well as interact with other I/E’s from all over the world. We also appreciated a detailled seminar by Brian Germain regarding safe canopy training and teaching.

We thank USPA for the organisation of this two day meeting and wish everybody involved a great start into the season 2011.
